Information for Students
All applications for elective periods Nepal are carried out directly via Nepalmed e.V. and not through the respective hospital on site in Nepal for logistical reasons. Interested doctors and students should contact Mrs. Marx via the following email address: work.nepal (at) gmx.de
Notice: Nepal is one of the poorest countries of the world. Infrastructure is often in a poor condition. Beware of road accidents! Clean drinking water, electricity or light should not be taken for granted. Please do not arrive after sunset in our partner hospitals. The staff waiting for you may not get back home in the dark. Hygiene is not comparable to your standard. Sometimes you meet cockroaches, spiders, beetles or rats at your work and living place. If accommodation was empty for a certain period of time you may have to wipe the sink or use the broom yourself. Nepalese culture is sometimes different to yours. Misunderstandings occur. Nodding of the head means NO, Indian/Nepalese wiggle of the head means YES.
