In Nepal, lunch at school is often the only real meal of the day. Both schools can only be reached by a single dirt road or via a footpath that leads over a 3000 metre high pass. The Namo Buddha Primary School currently has 48 pupils. The youngest are 5 years old. There are 57 pupils at the Chargare School. Nepalmed has been supporting the school kitchens at both schools for several years and ensures that the necessary food is purchased.
The people live mainly from agriculture and livestock farming and trekking tourism, for example by being hired as porters. Over the years, Nepalmed e. V. has installed school kitchens as well as PAUL water filters, which provide clean drinking water. The purchase of food is sponsored. The school lunches generated in this way are very well received and are a blessing for the children, as they are often the only real meal of the day.
The teachers are also very happy with this facility: now they can hold sensible lessons in the afternoon!
