Together with the Rotary Club of Gorkha, we want to install menstrual hygiene dispensers and associated disposal machines (incinerators) for girls at the secondary schools of Gorkha.
The aim is to remove the taboos surrounding menstruation and to make period products easily accessible to every female pupil/employee at the school. Menstruation should not disrupt anyone’s daily routine, limit opportunities or cause panic. For menstruating women in the rural regions of Nepal, access to menstrual products is not guaranteed. The cost of a hygiene-pad-donation machine is EUR 120, an incinerator costs EUR 220 A total of 100 schools in the Gorkha region are to be equipped. We want to start with 10 schools. The schools and local authorities have agreed to provide the sanitary towels and to maintain and operate the machines.
