Help us spark creativity and a love of reading! Shree Krishna Secondary School is located in the Baitadi district in western Nepal. Here, children from disadvantaged communities learn in very basic conditions – with great enthusiasm, but without access to books that could inspire their imagination and expand their knowledge. We are asking for support in setting up a library.

Why a librabry?
After implementing the project “Raising awareness against mass hysteria with counseling sessions and creativity workshops”, it became clear that a library can play an important role in promoting creativity and reading habits among students, thereby improving their mental health and emotional well-being.
Not only does it promote creativity and reading habits, it also strengthens students’ mental health and emotional well-being. In a region where many families have no access to books, school becomes the most important place of education—and a library becomes a gateway to new worlds.
The project:
We want to renovate a room at Shree Krishna Secondary School and equip it with everything a modern library needs:

- 🪑 Desks and chairs for focused learning
- đź’ˇ Adequate lighting for comfortable reading
- đź“š A basic collection of books in Nepali and English

What do the plans look like?
The school administration has agreed to provide a room for the library on the ground floor of the main building. The room will have six different aisles, each housing books from different genres. A communal table for 10-12 students and the necessary chairs will be set up in the middle of the room. Initially, the library will be stocked with some basic books, including a separate section on health awareness and mental health. The local district office has agreed to allocate part of its budget for the books.
The school will hire a librarian using its own funds. Since none of the schools in the municipality of Patan has a library, the planned library will serve as a central library, which will also be accessible to students from other schools in the municipality.
