The Sangla Primary Health Care Center is a government health facility operated by the Tarkeshwor Municipality in Dharmasthaki, Kathmandu. For many people, it is the only medical facility for miles around. Every day, patients arrive with symptoms that require a reliable diagnosis—but the necessary equipment is lacking. Without laboratory equipment, diagnoses remain incomplete, treatments are delayed, and lives hang in the balance.
The following devices are urgently needed:
- Electrolyte analyzer – measures vital electrolyte levels such as sodium and potassium — essential for dehydration, kidney disease, and emergencies.
- Biochemistry analyzer – for diagnosing liver, gallbladder, and kidney diseases, as well as diabetes
- Fluorescence immunoassay (FIA) – for diagnosing thyroid disorders, heart attacks, venous thrombosis, inflammation, diabetes, anemia, and osteoporosis
- Autoclave – reliably sterilizes instruments using steam pressure – the foundation of safe medical treatment and infection prevention.
- Computer and printer – enables digital patient records, reporting, and communication with higher-level health authorities.
