On Wednesday, August 26 2026, a massive flash flood devastated the border region between Nepal and Tibet. Triggered by a glacier collapse, a flood wave surged down the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers in Rasuwa District, sweeping away entire villages, roads, bridges, and power plants. According to the latest reports, over 1000 people have lost their lives, and over 4000 people are still missing (6.9.2026). For the local population, this disaster means destroyed homes, lost livelihoods, and acute hardship.

Helicopters have problems to land in the affected areas of Syapru Besi and Timure due to the bad weather conditions. Also roads are blocked and in dangerous conditions.
Nepalmed e.V. is ready to help.
We are in close contact with our local partners. They are organising emergency aid in collaboration with the Nepalese army. We will provide emergency aid where it is needed most, whether through medical care, support for affected hospitals, or assistance with reconstruction.
We plan to distribute:
- Basic food supplies and drinking water for families who have lost everything
- Emergency shelter – tents, tarps, and blankets for the coming, often chilly nights in the mountains
- Hygiene supplies to prevent disease in the overcrowded emergency camps
