Education and nutrition are inseparably linked. An empty stomach makes it impossible to concentrate in class. For many children in Nepal, the school meal is often the only nutritious meal of the day. Nepalmed aims to secure school meals for two schools throughout 2026 What Your Donation Achieves: daily warm, nutritious meals for schoolchildren, better concentration and learning ability in the classroom, an incentive for families to send their children to school regularly, relief for families facing difficult economic circumstances, an investment in the future of these children and their communities
Both schools supported by Nepalmed can only be reached via an unpaved road or a footpath that leads over a pass at an altitude of approximately 3,000 metres. At Namo Buddha Primary School, 59 pupils are currently being taught by seven teachers. Ten pupils have joined since last year. With Nepalmed’s support in expanding three additional classrooms, the growing demand for school places can be met. The youngest pupils are five years old. At Chargare School, there are 65 pupils and seven teachers. For several years, Nepalmed has been supporting the school kitchens at both schools and ensuring that the necessary food is purchased.
Over the years, Nepalmed e. V. has installed school kitchens and PAUL water filters, which provide clean drinking water. The purchase of food is sponsored. The school lunches provided in this way are very well received. It is a blessing for the children, because it is often the only hot meal they get during the day. The teachers are also very happy with this facility: now they can teach properly in the afternoons too!
